What is Takaful myTenang Care?

It is a one (1) year term family takaful plan that provides protection in the event of death or Total and Permanent Disability (TPD).

Who is this plan suitable for?

Takaful myTenang Care is suitable for people who are looking for pure protection at an affordable contribution.

How much coverage do I need?

The coverage you need depends on your budget and financial needs. You can determine the amount of coverage you need to meet your family’s financial needs if anything happens to you by using the self-assessment tool provided here.

Who can apply for this plan and what is the eligible entry age?

Malaysians aged 19 years old next birthday to 55 years old next birthday can apply for this plan.

Can I enrol another person for this plan besides myself?

No, you can only enrol in this plan for yourself.

I have a medical condition. Can I still participate in Takaful myTenang Care?

Takaful myTenang Care has been designed to be a simple plan, where you are only required to answer two (2) health-related questions. If you have any relevant medical conditions, we will not be able to offer Takaful myTenang Care to you.

Is there any underwriting for this plan?

Yes, you are required to answer two (2) health questions as part of the enrolment process.

Do I need to go for a medical examination?

No, you just need to answer two (2) health questions during the enrolment process.

Can I be covered under more than one Takaful myTenang Care plan?

No, one person can only be covered under one Takaful myTenang Care certificate.

When will my coverage begin?

Your coverage under this plan will start on the date when the e-Certificate is sent to you. The effective date will be stated in your e-Certificate.

When will I receive my certificate?

Upon your successful application with contribution payment, you will receive your e-Certificate immediately.

What is covered under this plan?

This plan covers death and Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) for one (1) year.

What is the death / Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) coverage amount?

The coverage amount depends on the entry age of the person covered at the point of application according to the table below:

Can I change my coverage amount?

No, your coverage amount depends on your entry age at the point of application.

How long is the coverage term?

The coverage term is one (1) year.

Is there any cash value under this plan?

No, there is no cash value under this plan.

Is there any maturity benefit under this plan?

No, there is no maturity benefit under this plan.

Under what circumstances will my coverage be terminated?

How much contribution do I have to pay?

The contribution amount is RM75 annually.

What are the fees and charges that I have to pay?

40% of the contribution will be deducted as the wakalah fee and the remaining 60% of the contribution will be allocated into the risk fund as the Tabarru’ deduction.

Are there any additional fees, charges, and taxes for this plan?

No, there are no additional fees and charges other than your contribution payment.

Can I make the contribution payment on a monthly basis?

No, you can only make the contribution payment on a yearly basis.

What are the payment methods allowed for this plan?

The contribution payment method accepted by us are credit / debit card.

Can I get tax relief under this plan?

Yes, you may qualify for income tax relief, subject to the approval of the Inland Revenue Board.

Will my certificate be renewed automatically after one year?

No, this plan provides one (1) year coverage. You may participate in a new Takaful myTenang Care if you wish to be covered for another year.

Will I get a refund if I cancel or surrender my certificate?

If you request to cancel your certificate within the fifteen (15) days free-look period from the date of delivery of the e-Certificate, you will get a full refund of your contribution paid.

However, there will be no cancellation option after the fifteen (15) days free-look period as your coverage under this plan will continue until the end of the coverage term.

Can I request to cancel my certificate after the free-look period?

No, there will be no cancellation option after the fifteen (15) days free-look period from the coverage effective date as your coverage under this plan will continue until the end of the coverage term.

Can I change my email address?

Yes, you can update your email address under the Profile Section via myTakaful Customer portal.

How do I update my bank account details for e-payment?

You can update your bank account details via myTakaful Customer portal.

How do I submit my request for cancellation during the free-look period?

You can submit your request via myTakaful Customer portal.

How do I make a nomination for this plan?

Please refer to the following steps:

  1. Log in to myTakaful Customer portal.
  2. Click “Certificate Listing – Family”.
  3. Select “Add/Amend of Nominee” from the “Activity” drop-down list to update the nomination details.
You may appoint nominee(s) as:
  • An executor; or
  • A beneficiary under conditional hibah (gift).
It can be anyone, but the nominee has to be a natural person.

Important note: You are advised to read the nomination guide here before making your nomination.

What happens if I do not make a nomination?

If you do not make a nomination, it will cause a delay in claims payment. Claimants will be required to obtain the Letter of Administration / Grant of Probate in order to process the claims if no nomination is made during the certificate period.

How do I make a claim?

You can download the claim form here and submit it together with the list of supporting documents.

How can I submit the claim documents?

The completed claim form together with the supporting documents can be submitted at any of our branches.

To whom will the benefits be payable if a claim occurs?

We will pay the benefits to your nominee(s) or your lawful executor or administrator estate (if no nomination is made) in the event of your death. For a Total and Permanent Disability claim, we will pay the benefits to you directly.

How do I receive my claims payout?

Any claims payout will be made to you or your nominees via e-payment.

How do I check my claim status or further clarify any doubts about the claim decision?

You may check your claim status via any of the following ways:

  1. Contact our Customer Service at 1-300 88 252 385 (Monday to Friday, 8.30a.m. – 5.30p.m.);
  2. Email us at csu@takaful-malaysia.com.my; or
  3. Visit our nearest branch.

Do the claim documents have to be certified?

Yes, if you submitted a non-original document then you must obtain a certified true copy from one of the authorities listed below:

  • Commissioner of Oath;
  • Lawyers / Solicitors;
  • Doctors;
  • Chief Police or Ketua Balai or OCPD;
  • Employer of the deceased / claimant;
  • Member of Parliament;
  • Bank authorised officers;
  • Village Head (Ketua Kampung);
  • Justice of Peace; or
  • School principal or school teacher

What additional documents are required if I pass away overseas?

We will need a letter from Malaysia's National Registration Department confirming the death and a certified true copy of the death certificate issued by the country where the death event occurred.

What are the exclusions for this plan?

What is the waiting period under this plan?

There is no waiting period for death and Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) benefits.
